Hello, Preschool 2 Families!

"Here in the moving shadows
I catch my breath and sing
my heart is fresh and fearless
and over-brimmed with spring!"

Happy May!  We are celebrating the best of spring (come rain or come shine) by learning all about plants.

At Circle Time, we discussed the four things all plants need to grow and thrive: sunshine, water, air and soil.

We identified different parts of a plant (petals, stems, leaves and roots).  On the playground we hunted for dandelions, wood violets, and worms. At home, ask your student what's their favorite part of a plant?

We made flower bouquets with mini paper baking cups and craft sticks.  Friends choose different colored markers for the petals and leaves.  We also practiced using our glue sticks to assemble the bouquets.

At Music with Teacher Jessica, we danced and sang to "The Ants Go Marching".  Friends practiced counting ants to ten and following the leader around the clasroom.

Together we discussed "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" by Eric Carle and "Plant A Kiss" by Amy Krouse Rosenthal.

Another book we enjoyed was "Just Me and My Mom" by Mercer Meyer. We had a lot of fun talking about all the special things we can do to show love and gratitude to all the moms in our lives.  Happy Mother's Day to everyone

The Pre-K class invited Preschool 2 over to meet the newly hatched baby chicks!  We ventured over to the main building and got to meet the sweet baby chickens.

At Library, we listened to "Over In The Garden" by Jennifer Ward, "If Only" by Mies Van Hout, and "10 Little Caterpillars" by Bill Martin Jr.

On Friday, we enjoyed a rain-walk on campus, went to the gym, used tools to make play-doh shapes, and practiced playing Duck, Duck, Goose.

Students continue to practice using their walking feet, listening ears and gentle hands.  We have been working so extra hard with focusing on our tasks and our routines.

Projects, artwork and school communications get sent home via your student's backpack, so please don't forget to check them throughout the week.

Review the handbook policies regarding illness.  If your child is showing any signs of illness or an unwell temperament, we encourage you to ere on the side of caution and keep them home to rest.

Please label clothing items sent into school!  It's tremendously helpful to teachers and staff, and helps prevent mix-ups with jackets, clothing et cetera.
