Happy Mother's Day to our Amazing Moms!   PK Early Literacy News
We continue to work on our fine and gross motor skills daily.  We have been painting, creating, and writing about our families, friends, and the world around us.  We have completed all the consonants in our Fundations program and will work on the vowels this week.  Our  morning centers are  related to the letters introduced which include stories, art, and early literacy skills.  We always start off our morning doing the Fundations ABC warm up.  Children are using the sky, grass, plane, and worm line to print these letters.   We continue to learn to express our ideas through our drawings and shared thoughts and have been making class books to share with you.  Thank you for returning them each day for the next child.

In science, we are looking at animal life cycles and how each one starts off as an egg and goes through the growing process until it reaches the final stage.  The class has been so enthusiastic and engaged when learning about each animal.  We named our tadpoles Sticky and Spinny after a class vote.  We are still waiting for Sticky to grow his front legs. It has been a truly teachable moment that not everyone grows at the same rate both people and animals and that we are all different.  We were able to release our ladybugs into the front flower garden and the chicks were picked up by Farmer Eric.  Our frogs remain in class:)

PK Math News
In math, we have been working hard on simple addition using many different manipulatives.  We continue to work on patterns, what comes next and understanding first, second, third..Children should be able to count objects through fifteen as well as writing these numbers.  We will continue to "fine-tune" them for the remainder of the year.
PK Art News
The Pre-K Art Show featuring famous artists is scheduled for Friday, May 24th; mark your calendars for this special event for families! Children will tour each class in our school starting in the morning and families will get a one on one tour with your artist from 2-3.  If you are unable to make this date, our art will continue to be up the following week and you may tour before school (at drop-off) or at the end of the day.  It truly is a special day of all of their hard work for the entire year.  We have been working on the artist Claude Monet and his beautiful images in nature, including Water Lilies.
