Teacher Margaret's "View From My Window" - September 12th

Dear Friends, 

We have been busy forming our Buddies communities. There are six Buddies groups this year. The groups are formed by dividing the four oldest grades, Fifth through Eighth, across Kindergarten, our combined First and Second Grades, Third Grade, Fourth Grade, and two groups of Prek. 

The Eighth-grade students learn about the activity in advance so that they can lead the activity for their group. So far we have spent time getting to know each other, working on understanding the Tale of the Whale, creating posters to celebrate our Walking for Betty Service Project, and on Friday, cheering our group members on as they walk. Every other week, we will gather in our groups to learn, serve others, and have fun. 

If you don’t know, Trolls are invading Burlington County! Big Rusty is just the first of eighteen trolls who have taken up residence in the parks across the county.  The trolls form the Troll Trek. Page 44 of the Fall Parks Program Guide has more information. I hope that you and your family will take advantage of our wonderful parks. 

At school, all of our students observe and write about the plants, animals, and insects they see on our beautiful campus. Visiting the trolls is a perfect opportunity for you to share in this observational, biophillia with your children. If you do go see a troll, send me a picture of your child or family with the troll. Why not create a story of your family visiting all of the trolls over the next several weeks?
