As a tie-in to the 6th-grade geology-focused, project-based learning unit based on the book All-Thirteen: The Incredible Cave Rescue of the Thai Boys' Soccer Team, 6th and 7th grades visited Luray Caverns in Virginia and hiked in Shenandoah National Park.
The next day they headed to Washington, DC to see exhibits of American craft and decorative arts from the 19th to 21st century in the Renwick Gallery, the Museum of Natural History, and then toured the Holocaust Museum.
