Dear Friends,

Thank you to everyone who completed the Parent Survey this past week. One of the early findings is that you have enjoyed the social events that Parents and Guardians Council has held so far this year, especially the Ice Cream Social and the BOO Bash. And you want to get together more! Fortunately, we have more events planned for the rest of the year including a Roller Skating Party in January, a Parent and Child Dance in February, a playdate and service project at the end of February, a St. Patricks Day Scavenger Hunt and play day in March, the Pancake Breakfast in April, a playdate in early May and a community ice cream social to close out our annual Field Day in May.

I will be welcoming many of you to the Preschool and Family Music classes tomorrow. Preschool parents and guardians are welcome to watch the older children’s holiday program via ZOOM. I am looking forward to hearing about all the ways our Preschool families have and will continue to share their family’s favorite traditions and celebrations with their children’s classmates. This is a wonderful opportunity for us to learn from each other as well as to grow in appreciation and understanding of each other.

COVID-19, Influenza, and RSV are stressing our hospitals with many pediatric units running at or near capacity. We at Westfield continue to stress handwashing, sneezing into your arm (Miss Luz just led our Preschool students in practicing how to best sneeze, time outdoors and keeping our high touch surfaces clean. We need you to do your part and keep your children home when they seem even the slightest bit off in the morning. Lately, we have sent a number of children home before 9:30am. When they picked up their children each parent commented on how their child had been a bit off. Our handbook asks that you “not send children to school hoping that they will rally or muscle through.”

Warmly,

Margaret
