PreK students have a huge red dragon on their wall from their celebration of Chinese New Year. I enjoyed reading The Next New Year by Janet Wong to First Grade and Bringing in the New Year by Grace Lin to Kindergarten. Second Grade paraded through the school with their Dragon Puppet and lanterns. We are still finding a few red envelopes scattered through the halls.
The walls are overflowing with student work and the bulletin boards are evolving to reflect Black History Month.
PreK has made snowy dot paintings and plates with hearts.
The stunning PreK and Kindergarten quilt still holds pride of place outside of Kindergarten.
First Grade students have learned about Frida Kahlo and Day of the Dead as a part of their study of Mexico.
Second Grade students have been studying the moon and Lunar phases (serendipitous connection with Chinese New Year). They have created diagrams of the phases and created clay representations of the lunar surface.
Fourth Grade students have been studying the human skeleton, using math to better understand themselves, and writing persuasive essays. Many of these essays took on the question, which is better cats or dogs?
Sixth-grade students completed a study of the Big Bang and the creation of our solar system.
The snow brought us joy for outside recess.
While today first and second grade played in the gym for recess, they still enjoyed unstructured time with their friends.
