This week building and sustaining community is very much on my mind. We are stronger with each new friendship, each act of kindness, each service project that is undertaken, each milestone celebrated with others.
This past weekend families at either end of the grades in our community enjoyed time together. Eighth-grade students and their families attended the South Jersey Friends Schools High School Fair. This event marks a milestone for them. Twenty high schools from across the region sent representatives. Our students were ready with questions and had been prepped by Teacher Carl to speak with as many different school reps as possible to get a sense of the breadth of their options.
Preschool families gathered for their BYOCoffee morning this past Saturday. Children showed their parents their favorite parts of the play yard. Parents greeted old friends and made new friends on this beautiful morning. Together they are beginning their children’s school adventure. Some of my best friends are from events just like this. I hope families with children in Prek through Fifth grade will come for our second BYOCoffee this Saturday morning from 9-10:00 AM.
