Extended Day & After-School Activities: Clubs and Sports

Westfield Friends School’s Extended Day Program offers a safe and nurturing environment for students that require before and/or after school care on either a regular or occasional basis.  The program is viewed as a natural  extension of  the school’s daily program. As such, the program does not operate when the school is not in session, including holidays, breaks, and summer vacation.

Morning Care:   FLAT RATE OF $6 PER DAY

Morning Care is available in the 5th and 6th grade lounge from 7:00 a.m. until 8:15 a.m.  Students are not permitted to wander campus or wait outside without parent or guardian supervision prior to 8:15. Students in grades 4-8 arriving on campus before 8:15 a.m. must enter through the glass door at the 7th and 8th grade hallway and report to the Morning Care Provider. It is requested that all students in grades Pre-K – 3rd  grade be escorted into the building by a parent or guardian to report to the Morning Care Provider.  Please be aware that any student arriving on campus before 8:10 a.m. will be placed in Morning Care and charged accordingly.  During Morning Care, students are welcome to prepare for their day by relaxing with a book, studying, quietly socializing with friends, using technology, or playing with board games or construction toys.  Your child is welcome to bring a light breakfast snack, as well (please avoid packing snacks containing common allergens such as peanut butter or tree nuts). Students are dismissed to their classrooms at 8:15 and the youngest are accompanied to their classrooms by the Morning Care Provider.

Afternoon Care:  $8 PER HOUR (One hour minimum, with 15 minute incremental charges)

The Afternoon Care program operates from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.  The Afternoon Care program is now situated in the main school building rather than the Meeting House.  Students attending Afternoon Care report to the lunchroom at 3:00 p.m. after dismissal from class.  The Afternoon Program includes scheduled periods for snack, outdoor and indoor recreation, mandatory homework/study time, reading/story time, and technology use.  Parents or guardians must park in the parking lot and come in to the main office to sign out/pick up their student from Afternoon Care.  Please bring your Car Line nametag in order to identify yourself for sign out.  Relatives, friends, or other designated adults picking up students must be registered in writing with the Extended Day Program staff. A late pick-up fee of $10 per child per 10 minute increment will be charged  for students remaining past 6:00 p.m. Please be aware that students not participating in an afterschool  activity or sport who remain on campus after the regular day dismissal  and pick-up time of 3:15 p.m. are placed in Afternoon Care and charged accordingly.

Helpful Tips for Extended Care Families:

  • Parents are encouraged to communicate specific needs or instructions about their children to the Extended Day Program staff. Restrictions due to illness, a place to change clothes for a sport or dance class, etc. may be explained to our staff in person or via written note.  Please note that email is unavailable to our staff after 3:00 p.m.
  • Please call the school’s main office at 856-829-0895 to reach the Extended Day Program.
  • Students are expected to follow Westfield Friends School same standards of conduct and behavior expectation during the Extended Day Program that are required during the regular school day.
  • Bills for extended day are sent out on the 10th of each month. Prompt payment of fees is greatly appreciated.  Delinquent accounts jeopardize continued use of the program.
  • Questions concerning charges should be directed to Meghann Risell in the school office at 856-829-0895, ext. 10 or mrissell@westfieldfriends.org.
  • Questions or concerns about the Extended Day Program should be directed to Jillian Stanton at 856-829-0895, ext. 13 or ExtendedDay@westfieldfriends.org
